Come join the Daughters of the American Revolution on President’s Day, Monday February 15, as they perform their annual wreath-laying ceremony at Washington's feet in Lafayette Park. The ceremony will take place at Houdon's statue of Washington beginning at 10:45 a.m. The Lafayette Park Conservancy invites you to stop by the Park House at 9:30 for pre-ceremony refreshments and camaraderie before braving the cold. The Park House is located in the southeast corner of Lafayette Park, at the intersection of Lafayette and Mississippi Avenues. The Cornelia Greene Chapter of the D.A.R. has conducted this event each year since 1963. For 2010, Pamela Davis, Cornelia Greene Chapter Regent, will conduct the program, which includes representatives from NSDAR and MSSDAR , veterans groups, Children of the American Revolution, and color guards from Normandy High School and the Sons of the American Revolution. This year’s guest speaker is McGraw Milhaven, a weekday personality on KTRS Talk Radio. I want to contribute to Conservancy projects! |
