The original 3\,900 sq ft home was built by Jacob J. Wertheimer\, president of the Wertheimer-Swarts Shoe Co. and one of five directors for the Louisiana Purchase Exposition Co. (St Louis World’s Fair). In 1892\, JJ Wertheimer sold the house to Nathan Waldstein\, head of Waldstein Lumber Co. and president of St. Louis Lumberman’s Exchange. \nThe original house was expanded  to over 10\,000 sq ft\, including a finished basement and a pool house. The addition spans across 5 lots\, including 3 addresses (1818\, 1820\, & 1824 Kennett Pl)\, 7 bedrooms\, 8 bathrooms\, a swimming pool\, and a 3 car attached garage.
