February 20, 2012 - National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution Reception
Join members of the DAR for this annual wreath laying ceremony at the George Washington Statue in Lafayette Park. Ceremony begins at 9:30 a.m. reception follows in the park house.
March 10, 2012 - Second Annual LPC Trivia Night:
Hooray For Hollywood!
Form a team of eight and reserve your table. This event was
a sellout last year! $20 per person, $160 for a whole table.
Will be held at St. Vincent DePaul church, located at 9th and
Park. Lots of attractive, affordable silent auction items,

Membership Meeting
The annual membership meeting of the Lafayette Park Conservancy
will be held at 3:00 p.m. near the Boathouse in Lafayette Park. A
short business meeting will include updates on all Conservancy
projects and election of directors. The business meeting will be
followed by refreshments and some exciting activities,
highlighted the rededication of the restored Thomas Hart Benton statue.

June 4-5 - Fourth Annual LPC Plant Sale
Buy fabulous, healthy annual and perennial plants for your
garden, or container plants for your house, all at very
reasonable prices. These plants are grown by our volunteers
during the winter to sell in the spring and to plant in
Lafayette Park, and all proceeds go toward further beautifying
the park. Our stand will be on Lafayette Ave. near Mississippi,
and will be open from 10-5 both Saturday and Sunday.

The Lafayette Square neighborhood opens its homes and
gardens to thousands of delighted visitors, who can also enjoy
St. Louis Perfectos vintage baseball, antique sales, wine tasting and more. Helps
fund park improvements such as the recent

May 7 - Flora Conservancy Plant Sale in Forest Park
The Flora Conservancy of Forest Park is a volunteer
organization that maintains the beautiful floral displays at the
Jewel Box and other locations in Forest Park, using both
purchased plants and ones they propagate at the greenhouses.
They generously share greenhouse space volunteer gardeners from
the LPC who grow plants to plant in Lafayette Park. Buying some
of your spring plants at this giant, Saturday-only plant sale is
one way we can pay them back for their support. The sale will go
from 8 AM to 3:30 PM, at the greenhouses located in Forest Park,
just east of the Hampton entrance. Thousands of terrific plants
will be available at excellent prices. |

Come join us for a gardening day and work some of those winter
kinks out of your body! Any level of experience is fine--we'll
show you exactly what needs doing for this spring cleanup. We'll be working in three or four areas
of the park weeding, pruning and mulching from 9 AM 'til
about 1 PM. Meet at the Washington Statue for your assignment.

kinks out of your body! Any level of experience is fine--we'll

Holiday finery at this annual event in the Lafayette Square
neighborhood. You can also
take a carriage ride in the park and pick up a box or three of

friends! Tickets available at the Park House

This exciting Halloween costume party, put on by the Lafayette
Park Conservancy, will raise money toward keeping the weather
out of the Boat House, built in 1908, by repairing the leaking
roof by restoring its original clay tiles. Gumbohead will
provide the music from 9-Midnight, after all the little ones are
safely abed. Tarot readings, photos and prizes for best costumes
and more. Don't miss it! |

Harriet Hosmer
This will be given at the Kemper Art Museum on Washington
University's campus by Erin Sutherland, a doctoral candidate in
the Department of Art History and Archaeology. Starts at 6 PM.
June 13-14 - Symposium: Life & Works of Harriet Goodhue Hosmer
Renowned sculptor Harriet Hosmer created the statue of Missouri's first senator, Thomas
Hart Benton, that has graced Lafayette Park since 1868. This
international celebration of her life and work will take place Friday evening
and Saturday morning on the campuses of the University of
Missouri-St. Louis and Washington University. Registration is
required. (Click heading for details.)
June 14 - Benton Statue Celebration
Commemorate Flag Day and the 140th anniversary of the original
dedication of the Benton Monument in Lafayette Park. Enjoy
patriotic music, food, speeches and carriage rides. The
festivities begin at 4:30 PM. Renowned sculptor Gail Cassilly
will also open her Lafayette Square studio for tours from
3:00-6:00 PM, at 1817 Hickory.

3rd Annual LPC Plant Sale
Buy fabulous, healthy annual and perennial plants for your
garden, or container plants for your house, all at very
reasonable prices. These plants are grown by our volunteers
during the winter to sell in the spring and to plant in
Lafayette Park, and all proceeds go toward further beautifying
the park. Our stand will be on Lafayette Ave. near Mississippi,
and will be open from 10-5 both days.

April 17 - Garden Work Day In The
Grotto
Master Gardeners will be working here from 9 til noon, to mulch
the existing plantings and add additional plants they grew in
the greenhouse during the winter. Come join in the fun!
April 10 - Operation Brightside "Blitz" Day
Come join us for a gardening day and work some of those winter
kinks out of your body! We'll be working in three or four areas
of the park, cleaning up, weeding and mulching from 9 AM 'til
about 1 PM. Meet at the Washington Statue for your assignment. |

Join the Flora Conservancy's Master Gardeners in cleaning up the
detritus of winter, to prepare for spring planting and mulching.
We'll be meeting at the grotto area in the southeast corner of

Revolution performs its annual wreath-laying ceremony at the
Washington statue. The ceremony begins at 10:45 a.m. Come to

hosted by the Conservancy at the Park House for light
refreshments and convivial cheer! |

Annual LPC
Membership Meeting
The annual membership meeting of the Lafayette Park Conservancy
will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Boathouse in Lafayette Park. A
short business meeting will include updates on all Conservancy
projects and election of directors. The business meeting will be
followed by refreshments and some exciting activities,
highlighted by a cannon that fires tennis balls, to celebrate
the restoration of the first of the three Revolutionary War
ship's guns presented to the park in 1897. |

Boat House Boogey!
This exciting Halloween costume party, put on by the Lafayette
Park Conservancy, will raise money toward keeping the weather
out of the Boat House, built in 1908, by repairing the leaking
roof by restoring its original clay tiles. Gumbohead will
provide the music from 9-Midnight, after all the little ones are
safely abed. Tarot readings, photos and prizes for best costumes

Renowned sculptor
Harriet Hosmer
created the statue of Missouri's first senator,
Thomas
Hart Benton, that has graced Lafayette Park since 1868. This
international celebration of her life and work will take place Friday evening
and Saturday morning on the campuses of the University of
Missouri-St. Louis and Washington University. Registration is

Benton Statue Celebration
Commemorate Flag Day and the 140th anniversary of the original
dedication of the Benton Monument in Lafayette Park. Enjoy

will also open her Lafayette Square studio for tours from
